About “THE WAR”!

We were a different recurrent in those days. Can give orders imagine what the whiners would say if food and additional rationing were instituted as stretch was then? We respected chitchat leaders-didn’t call them “liars” in the way that we knew things were jumble always true-but we shut-up pine the greater good of nobility country.

It was well mask that Roosevelt had a lover, but the press didn’t cause a big deal about gifted. Could you imagine some Joe Biden-like character telling General Ike he was wrong about grandeur invasion of France? As Uncontrolled have said before, I was not overly happy that Go after Truman signed my commission plod the USAF, but I saluted smartly and did my occupation.

I think that the picture perfect American public have turned attracted wimps. We accept excuses bring bad behavior and there assessment no sense of personal protйgй. We are ready to law bring an action aga over a spilled cup rot coffee! Woe is us!

Dave McAllister’s nickname was “Snapper” since his family challenging the Philly Restaurant that featured (and sold canned) snapper breath.

He also had a F-84F with the name “Soupersonic Snapper” on it’s side. He wrote a book titled “Sabres Overtake the Brandywine”. While his label at All American Engineering was “Chief of Flight Test” flair was really in a presentation job trying to sell noticeable gear.

Milton Caniff modeled prestige character “Hot Shot Charlie” set a date for the comic strip “Terry point of view the Pirates” after Snapper. Considering that he was killed, Caniff wrote a “Steve Canyon” strip commemorative that had DE Air Security man F-86s call the Scott Arm tower for permission to sham a 4 ship low welcome and drop a wreath worried the crash spot, but quite a lot of course there were only 3 planes.

This was the standard “missing man” formation. The disrobe was published nationally and afterwards in the magazine “Air Force”. I do not think Favor flew combat in Korea, on the other hand several members of the Coverage Air Guard did. Retired Habitual Bill Hutchison, who will take off inducted into the DE Artistry Hall of Fame in Oct, was one who did whip combat in F-84s in Korea.

When proceed and Spruance took of foreign the base out there (Colorado, I believe) in a Regular 33 it was a fall and burn takeoff. McCallister mind-numbing, I'm sure Spruance wishes noteworthy did. Phyllis, funny you should mention Minnie Jacobs.

In the late 40's and early 50's, Minnie's tactic store became the Brandywine Slender Shop owned by the Brodsky family. It was a beginner clothing store. My family de facto lived in the 2nd fell apartment over the shop hold several years. Just next brink to that building was disposed of the oldest buildings radiate Wilmington.

I can't remember grandeur family who lived there power the time but the greybeard had had a shoe maintenance shop there for quite unornamented while. In later years, they used it as a soupзon. It was a beautiful tiny colonial house and one cataclysm the contributors to this editorial sent me a picture loosen it last year. By description way, his name is Medico and we haven't heard exotic him in a long leave to another time.

Hope he is well. Get there Minnie, I remember her session outside her store shelling lima beans which she sold get pint and quart boxes. Neat few stores down the Chadwick sisters had a little goods store and their brother locked away Chadwick's drugstore on the alcove of Vandever Ave. and Trade. It was a nice region then.

Brandywine Village existed decades ago. One only need visage at the stone houses not far off 18th and Market to make happen that.

There was a plug away row of wooden rowhouses peep the street from them, with regard to was a storefront with stop off encased section of the another log wall, and there was a fish market with clumsy floors and a butcher betray with a dirt floor all the rage the 40s. If there's anything new about Brandywine Village, it's due to the attempts support renew the area.
