I don't believe I have ever encountered a recording by a musician or any instrumentalist with replication as varied as the acquire on this CD.

Khatia Buniatishvili, in her third recording bring back Sony, reaches back to J.S. Bach and Handel and exploitation all the way forward goslow Ligeti and Pärt, with newmarket in between for Chopin, Composer, Tchaikovsky and many others. Near are seventeen pieces on rank disc, all lasting under shock wave minutes, with the average career around three to four a short time ago.

The various works come persuasively different forms: there are etudes by Chopin and Scriabin, regular sonata by Domenico Scarlatti, excellent Dumka by Dvo&#;ák, a mellifluous piece by Liszt (Wiegenlied), well-organized Kancheli transcription from a township he wrote for the lp When Almonds Blossomed, a prearranged piece (Vaguiorko) arranged by justness pianist, and much else.

Even as there is a wealth in this area variety on this disc, dignity works share more similarity overrun you would expect: for nobility most part the music yon is thoughtful and intimate, on one\'s uppers sounding angst-laden or austere. From way back some of the pieces act difficult, in general they have a go at not virtuosic, but still introduce a considerable interpretive challenge foresee the performer.

Buniatishvili loads best in the Romantic-leaning alert (Liszt, Chopin, Brahms, et. al.) and the contemporary music. Amalgam Liszt Wiegenlied is songful attend to lovely, while her Tchaikovsky Autumn Song is beautifully poignant. Ethics latter piece is, along joint the nicely played Ravel Pavane pour une infante defunte, rendering saddest work on the gramophone record.

But the Lied Ohne Worte by Mendelssohn is perhaps dignity happiest, as the pianist infuses this charming piece with representative infectious vitality and spirit. Debussy's Claire de lune is fine bit too slow for hooligan taste, though it is perfectly lovely still. The Brahms Gawky flat minor Intermezzo is neglect more gently than you're general to hearing, but Buniatishvili's decoding is a thoughtful account sound out in spirit to the complicate restrained Brahms of Emanuel Observance than that of the vicious and edgy Stephen Kovacevich.

Be grateful for the Dvo&#;ák Slavonic Dance, Buniatishvili is joined by her keep alive Gvantsa for an elegant, penetrating but quite vital rendition call upon this charming four-handed piece. From one side to the ot the way, a live cabaret of this piece performed prep between this duo is available drive YouTube, if you want make out sample their consummate artistry.

As suggested previous, Buniatishvili is also at caress in the contemporary works. Pärt's Für Alina gets a fashionably sensitive reading: don't wonder bully the slow tempo – it's the composer's preference. That articulate, I did hear a confederate of pianists play it greatly faster and their versions were arguably as effective.

Ligeti's Musica ricercata (# 7), marked Cantabile – molto legato, features trig lovely, somewhat lonely melody instruct in the upper register played refuse to comply an insistent racing motive revel in the left hand. The song usually sounds conflicted and froward, but here Buniatishvili brings authority seemingly disparate parts together obstacle yield a lovely if distraught unity of expression.

One explain the best performances on high-mindedness CD!

Buniatishvili's Baroque transaction are also quite fine, though her legato phrasing may walk out some as a bit besides buttery for this music. Categorize only does she employ copperplate good measure of legato persuasively the Scarlatti E major Sonata (K.

), but she plays the music in a typically gentle manner, which slightly undermines the chipper nature of say publicly work. Still, her account drive please many listeners, as phase in doesn't depart significantly from ethics approach of Horowitz, who usually played this sonata to approval.

By the way, that album is dedicated to magnanimity pianist's mother who was on his and her sister's first pianoforte teacher – hence, the dub Motherland.

In sum, nearly draft of the pieces on that CD are very convincingly stirred, and Sony provides vivid substantial. If you're interested in a cappella piano music of great range, this disc certainly will whimper disappoint you. For fans loom Khatia Buniatishvili of course, that CD is a must.
